Hi everyone My name is Richard Benjamin and I am a PhD student in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Liverpool. I am currently carrying out research on 'understanding identity through the past', with particular reference to black British identity and have two questionnaires that I would like people to fill out. One for schoolchildren 11-16 and one for adults 16+.
The questionnaires aim to get an idea of what people, black, Asian and white, think and know about the past, whether it be archaeology, heritage or history. Do people find the past interesting in general? Do people interact with the past in any way, such as visiting museums or reading books on the subject? In particular, how do people perceive the black British past? The results will assist me in documenting how black identity is constructed and what the ramifications are for both the black British community and British society as a whole.
If you would be willing to fill out a questionnaire please email me. I can send questionnaires out by post or as a word document via email. Thanks for taking the time to read this message and I look forward to hearing from you.
